(CNN)- Severe weather swept across parts of the Midwest on Thursday, spawning multiple suspected tornadoes, causing widespread damage and leaving at least one person dead.
A massive funnel cloud was captured on video near Streator, Illinois, where a suspected tornado tore through the city and left significant destruction behind.
The storm leveled at least one home, trapping a man beneath the rubble.
Video from the scene showed a photojournalist helping move debris while speaking with the injured man, who believed he had suffered a broken leg. Police officers later arrived and assisted with the rescue.
The suspected tornado in Streator was one of several reported across the Midwest as another round of severe weather struck communities already dealing with storm damage earlier in the week.
Additional possible tornadoes were captured on camera in Lewistown and Washburn, Illinois, as well as in Indiana.
The storms also brought damaging winds to other parts of the region.
In Iowa, several cities reported wind gusts between 70 and 90 miles per hour.
The severe weather turned deadly in Des Moines, where police said a 54-year-old man was killed after a tree broke apart and fell into a homeless encampment as storms moved through the city.
Emergency crews continued assessing damage Friday as residents across the Midwest began cleanup and recovery efforts.
