Runoff Elections Approaching As Early Voting Opens June 8 In Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Runoff elections are approaching for both parties following a series of tight primaries, with early voting set to begin Monday, June 8.

During early voting, Bibb County voters can cast ballots at the Macon Mall, the Elaine Lucas Senior Center and North Westminster Presbyterian Church on Wimbish Road.

The runoffs will determine who represents each party going into the midterm elections.

Election Supervisor Thomas Gillon said his office faces the same workload as a standard election, but on a compressed timeline.

“We have to do everything we do for a normal election but in a much shorter time period,” he said. “All the pieces of equipment that go out to the polling places — all of them get tested. All of the ones for early voting places get tested, all the absentee ballot requests.”

Voters who did not participate in the initial primaries are still eligible to vote in the runoffs. Those who already voted in the primaries are also eligible to vote again in the runoff. If you have already voted, you can not change your previously chosen party.
