2-year-old in critical condition, 3 others hurt in crash

Two people were killed after a fleeing vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic on I-75 in Monroe County, according to deputies.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) —Four people are hurt, including a two-year-old currently in critical condition after a single car accident Tuesday afternoon in north Macon.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash around 12:30 inside the 4500 block of Riverside Drive near the Interstate 75 South On ramp.

They say the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling east on Riverside Drive, just before the Interstate 75 South on ramp, when the driver maneuvered to avoid hitting a vehicle ahead of her. The vehicle then went onto the median and hit a hill incline off the roadway.

Deputies say all four passengers were taken to the hospital, where the 19-year-old driver and 16-year-old passenger is in stable condition. Another 16-year-old passenger is in critical but stable condition, and the two-year-old is in critical condition.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Crash Investigation Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the incident.
