Macon Woman Killed by Falling Tree

A woman is dead after a tree falls and kills her this afternoon in Macon. It happened on the northeast side of Bowden Golf course, at Lake Arrowhead. That’s according to Bibb County Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.

57-year-old Ethel Mae Riggins of Macon was fishing with a friend, Rodney Curry, also of Macon, when a tree snapped and fell, hitting her in the head. Investigators believe strong winds are to blame for the tree falling.

Miley says she was pronounced dead at 2:20 pm. Her body has been sent to the GBI lab for an autopsy.
