Houston County School District offering free summer meals for children
Free meals will be available to children 18 and younger beginning May 26 through July 24.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Houston County families will once again have access to free meals for children this summer through the Houston County School District’s Summer Feeding Program, according to the Houston County School District.
Free meals will be available to children 18 and younger beginning May 26 through July 24. Children do not have to be enrolled in the Houston County School District to participate.
The district says families will have three ways to participate in the program, including daily onsite meals at Northside High School in Warner Robins and Perry High School in Perry. Meals will be served weekdays from 8 a.m. until noon and must be eaten onsite.
The district will also provide meals through mobile van routes traveling through eligible Houston County neighborhoods. Officials say the mobile routes are designed to serve children who are unable to access the school meal sites.
In addition, weekly meal pack pickup services will be available every Thursday from May 28 through July 23 at Bonaire Middle School, Langston Road Primary School and Northside Elementary School. Distribution will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until supplies last. Parents and guardians will be allowed to pick up meals, and children do not have to be present for meal pack pickups.
The district says meals will not be served on Fridays in June or on July 3 due to district closures.
