Gary Bechtel wins re-election as Macon Water Authority Chairman
Bechtel says he will continue ongoing projects and focus on safe, clean water and economic development across Bibb County.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Incumbent Gary Bechtel has won re-election as chairman of the Macon Water Authority, securing another term in office.
Bechtel secured 55.14% of the vote in his race against challenger Desmond Brown, according to unofficial results.
Bechtel’s victory keeps him in a leadership role overseeing the authority, which is responsible for providing water services across Bibb County. Following the election, Bechtel expressed confidence in voters and the direction of the utility.
“I have a lot of confidence in the voters of Bibb County that they value the leadership of the Macon Water Authority,” he said. “My opponent, I don’t think, gave them the kind of confidence and trust that long-term success and this authority needed in their mind for safe, clean water and economic development.”
Bechtel also thanked voters for their support and said he is focused on continuing progress.
He says he looks forward to finishing ongoing projects over the next four years, with a focus on maintaining reliable water service and supporting economic growth in the community.
