Five new homes coming to Villa Esta Avenue in south Macon
Leaders say the development aims to replace blight and give families more affordable housing options

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Five new homes are rising along Villa Esta Avenue right across from Bruce Elementary School in south Macon.
According to Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller, the development is part of the county’s ongoing effort to remove blight and bring more affordable housing to the area. He says the project is about more than just building homes it is about creating opportunity for families and strengthening the community.
“We’ve eliminated over 150 houses of dangerous structures in this area here along with many other things coming to the community to make sure that everyone has a good quality of life,” Miller said.
Officials say new housing can help improve property values, support nearby schools and create a safer environment for residents.
For future homeowners, there will also be an opportunity to make the homes their own. Keshia Stafford, president of Stafford Builders, says buyers will be able to personalize features inside the homes, including paint colors, lighting fixtures and flooring options.
“When you’re dealing with a case where, ‘Hey I’m a new homeowner, I can come in and say this is what I want, this is what I like,’ it allows it to almost adapt the house to you.”
She says the homes are expected to be completed in about three months.
