Pan African festival returns to Macon
The Pan African Festival of Georgia is back in Macon for a weekend of vibrant celebration! Head to Henderson Stadium on Saturday and Sunday for live music, dynamic performances, cultural exhibits, arts and crafts and delicious food vendors—all honoring African heritage, creativity, and community spirit. Saturday’s admission is $15 until 4 p.m. and $20 after; Sunday admission is $15.
Jam-Packed weekend at the Georgia Strawberry Festival
The 28th annual Georgia Strawberry Festival in Reynolds is bringing a full weekend of fun for the whole family. Festivities kick off Friday at 6 p.m. with a gospel concert and picnic at Julian Knight Park. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., enjoy arts and crafts vendors, strawberry treats and activities for all ages. Don’t miss the Berry Sweet Parade at 10 a.m., plus the antique tractor show, weenie dog race, 5K and much more. As one organizer shared, “Of course, our beloved pie eating contest is free to enter. This year, we’ve added another gazebo and stage at Julian Park—one just for music, and another for contests, fashion shows, and more!” There’s also a strawberry patch experience and a petting zoo for the kids. Admission is free, and everyone’s welcome.
Bacon Fest sizzles in Macon
Craving something savory? Bacon Fest returns to Macon this Saturday at Luther Williams Field, starting at 11 a.m.. Enjoy local vendors, live music, food trucks, bounce houses, plenty of bacon, and a bacon cook-off. Admission is free and the event wraps up at 4 p.m., making it a perfect outing for the whole family.
Just Tap’d Beer Festival pours on the fun
Beer enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Just Tap’d Beer Festival in downtown Macon on Saturday. Head to Just Tap’d at 1 p.m. for exclusive brews, wine, non-alcoholic options, live music, food trucks, and yard games like giant cornhole, Jenga, and Connect Four. Admission is free for all ages. If you’re 21+ and want to sample the beer lineup, you’ll need a tasting ticket. The festival is rain or shine and ends at 5 p.m.
Book lovers rejoice: Two major book sales this weekend
Looking for a literary adventure? The Macon chapter of Friends of the Library is hosting its annual book sale at Carolyn Crayton Park in the round building. Find hardbacks for just two dollars, paperbacks for one dollar, plus CDs and DVDs. The sale runs Friday (10 a.m.–7 p.m.), Saturday (10 a.m.–6 p.m.), and Sunday (10 a.m.–2 p.m.). Sunday is half-price day!
Meanwhile, the Houston County Friends of the Library wraps up its 21st annual book sale on Saturday at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. More than 90,000 donated books are available in dozens of categories, from children’s books to modern sci-fi and rare collectibles. Most books are under three dollars, and admission is free Friday and Saturday, with all items half price on Saturday. Proceeds benefit the Houston County Library System, and organizers recommend taking the west entrance for easy access.
