Community Mourns Lauren Bullis Killed During Morning Walk In Atlanta

(CNN)- A community is coming together in grief following the death of Lauren Bullis, a 40-year-old woman killed while walking her dog.

Neighbors gathered Tuesday for a prayer walk, retracing the same route Bullis took along Battle Forrest Drive where she was attacked.

“We just wanted to come together in solidarity, in reflection,” said neighbor Chari Ponder. “Give everyone the opportunity to reflect on what happened.”

Police say Bullis was shot and stabbed by a suspect identified as Olaolukitan Adon Abel.

Investigators say earlier that same day, the suspect allegedly shot and killed another woman and critically injured a man in a separate incident.

Neighbors say the violence has shaken the community.

“It made me a little scared and it broke my heart because of the nature of the incident—it was so violent,” said resident Chance Troy.

One of the suspect’s roommates said he was stunned to learn who was responsible.

“To find out it was this guy? I was like you’ve got to be kidding me… this is unreal,” said Tony Robins.

Authorities are also looking into whether the suspect has a prior criminal history. A man with a similar name was arrested last year in Savannah on multiple counts of sexual battery.

Neighbors say Bullis was a familiar and positive presence in the area, often seen walking or running with her dog each morning.

“I recognized the victim from taking the same route that I do every morning,” Ponder said.

As the investigation continues, the community says it is focused on supporting Bullis’ family and honoring her memory.
