MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) —One of the many things the International Cherry Blossom Festival is known for, is the food and tasty treats.

One of those treats is the Fried Oreo. Donna Coffing explains what it takes to prepare her Oreo’s for the day.

“We prepare our mix, then when somebody comes up and orders one, Helen here will fry you one up, and you can have the toppings; cinnamon, powder sugar, cherries, apples, chocolate, and caramel”, she said.

Coffing has been frying Oreos for 25 years, and says she looks forward to it every year.

I love it! Macon is a beautiful town, and we like coming here. We’ve had beautiful weather so far. So, it’s exciting, every year is new and we see a lot of familiar faces every year”, said Coffing.

Bobby McCarthy, owner of ‘Dem Turkey Legs’, is getting acquainted to the Cherry Blossom and says his experience has been great.

“I’m here about five o’clock every morning, getting the gill lit up, getting the legs out, to pre-thaw a little bit,” said McCarthy. “Getting the meat seasoned up and getting it on before opening.”

He says having a food truck has always been a dream of his, and shares this message for future food vendors.

“It’s very possible, not too long ago I didn’t think I would be here, even though it was my dream to be here. I’m here so it’s very very possible,” he said.
