Good Samaritan Saves Man From Burning House Fire In Forsyth

A Forsyth man is thankful to be alive after a fire destroys his home. The blaze started just before 1:30 this afternoon at 214 College Street. The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene. According to the owner of the home, Ashley Slappy, he was asleep when the fire started. Arthur Jackson and a co-worker of his were driving down the street when they noticed smoke coming from the home. They called 911, and Jackson went inside to rescue Mr. Slappy.

“I called the fire department at first. And I ran in and was hollering is anybody in the house. He yelled back, so I ran in there and got him out. He said no one else was in the house,” said Arthur Jackson.

“What do you want to say to the guy who got you out of there,” asked 41 NBC’s Rachad Hollis. 

“I sure do appreciate it because if it wasn’t for them I don’t know if I would have made it out or not,” said Ashley Slappy. The owner of the home says he is doing fine.  Slappy has lived in the home for 30 years. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
