Light rain arrives then a brief chill down for Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Widespread light rain and overcast skies cover most of North and Middle Georgia early this morning, courtesy of deep moisture pooled over our region

ahead of low pressure over the Tennessee Valley. The rainy and mild conditions won’t change until the cold front associated with the system pushes through the area. The timing of the front moving through looks to be early this afternoon in northwest Georgia, gradually spreading southeast across the rest of the area and clearing East-Central Georgia by late evening. Although cloud cover may be a bit slow to lift and scatter following the front, rain will rapidly clear out as dry, cool air moves in. Temperatures by Thursday morning will drop into the mid to upper 20s in North Georgia, and low to mid 30s in Middle Georgia. Breezy northwest winds will make the feel-like temperatures about 10 degrees cooler. Skies will gradually clear out and become sunny with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 40s in north Georgia, and upper 40s in Middle Georgia. It will be quiet weather for the extended forecast. Long term models haven’t hinted at the possibility of precipitation returning until early next week.
