Macon Arena Project Advances, Piedmont Primary Care Expands In Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Macon-Bibb County has selected Barton Malow, in association with Sheridan Construction, to manage construction of the new Macon Arena, a major project that will replace the current Macon Coliseum.

The new arena is designed to host a wide range of events, including minor league hockey and basketball games, high school tournaments, concerts, conferences and trade shows. Inside, guests can expect premium seating options, including luxury suites, club suites, and loge boxes.

Construction is set to begin this summer, with the arena expected to open in 2028.

The Creek 100.9 FM names new general manager

The Creek 100.9 FM has named Susie Cowan as its new general manager, according to an announcement from Visit Macon. Cowan will oversee operations and partnerships while working to expand the station’s role in music tourism and community engagement.

Cowan has built her career promoting destinations through storytelling, live events, and music, including supporting festivals, local artists, and efforts to attract visitors to the region.

The radio station is owned by Visit Macon.

Piedmont Primary Care expands in Macon

Macon’s second Piedmont Primary Care location opens Thursday at its new Bass Road site. The clinic will offer well and sick visits, annual exams, preventive care, women’s health services and more.

Patients can book same-day appointments, schedule online or connect with care teams through video visits. The clinic will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 478-765-4520.

United in Pink receives major donation

Lowe Toyota has presented United in Pink with a $75,000 donation raised through vehicle sales at the dealership. United in Pink is a Central Georgia nonprofit that provides resources to breast cancer patients and their families.

Beginning in October, the dealership donated $100 for every vehicle sold through January. The funds help support breast cancer survivors and their families from diagnosis through treatment.

Port of Savannah reports strong year

The Port of Savannah wrapped up its second busiest year on record in 2025, handling nearly 5.7 million twenty-foot equivalent container units of cargo. That represents a 2.6 percent increase from 2024.

Gov. Brian Kemp said the ports of Savannah and Brunswick have been critical to Georgia’s ability to attract new jobs and investment, calling them essential to the state’s status as the No. 1 state for business.

Gas prices climb across Georgia

Georgia drivers are paying more at the pump as severe winter weather disrupts energy production nationwide, according to AAA. The state average jumped six cents to $2.70 per gallon on Monday, with prices expected to shift in the days ahead.
