City of Macon Welcomes Code for America Fellows

A national program makes its way to Macon to improve the city website, government efficiency and citizen engagement. The program is called Code for America. Nick Doiron, Jessica Lord, and Zach Williams are the 3 Code for America fellows that will be working with the city. The program will meet with department heads during the first week of their visit. The city of Macon is one of only 7 cities nationwide chosen for this unique initiative.

“What we are doing here and what I see, Code for America is doing for Macon is creating a user friendly interface so our citizens can interface and interact not only with their own local government but the world” , said Mayor Robert Reichert.

Code for America is funded by the Knight Foundation, as part of its Technology for Engagement initiative. According to the city, this program will not cost taxpayers any money. Code for America was founded in 2009.
