Warner Robins Mayor Says City Will Not Purchase Golf Club

Tonight at Warner Robins pre-council, Mayor Chuck Shaheen set the record straight. The city will not buy Landings Golf Club.

Talks of the sale surfaced yesterday after the Mayor met with members of the Warner Robins Building Authority, and representation from the golf club. Shaheen says the club’s CEO pitched the sale, but he gave no indication the city would purchase the club.

“We were not considering purchasing a golf course. They came and they said ‘Would you, are you interested in a golf course?’ And I talked to some of the golf pros, and talked to the Warner Robins Building Authority and they said, ‘Hey, just talk to them.’ That’s all we did.”

When Shaheen brought up the sale at tonight’s meeting, five council members spoke out against purchasing the golf club. Councilman Mike Brashear made it clear he wants city employees taken care of before the city makes another big purchase.
