Bibb County Students Celebrate MLK Day

The MLK day celebration continued Monday at The Tubman African American Museum. Elementary students from Burdell-Hunt and LH Williams Elementary school spent the day learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the struggles of African Americans during the civil rights era.  A total of 83 students lined up at the Tubman Museum to show their support for Dr. King and what he stood for.

“He wanted everybody to be treated equally he didn’t want us to be apart. He wanted us to be a family”, said student Aljimese Dean.

“He didn’t let anybody bring him down he just fought hate with love”, said student Wendell Brewer.

The elementary students worked with professors and students from Macon State College and Mercer University’s educations program. These workshops utilize museum exhibits, collections, and special events.
