Bibb County schools briefly locked down after reports of nearby gunfire

Central High, Miller Middle and Vineville Academy of the Arts were advised by Campus Police to enter lockdown as a safety precaution.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three Bibb County schools were placed on a brief precautionary lockdown Wednesday morning after reports of gunfire were heard in a nearby neighborhood, according to the Bibb County School District.

Central High, Miller Middle and Vineville Academy of the Arts were advised by Campus Police to enter lockdown as a safety precaution.

During a precautionary lockdown, instruction continued inside while all outdoor activity was paused.

The district said normal operations resumed once Campus Police cleared the area and notified the schools it was safe.
