First Proceeding Hearing Scheduled for Stephen McDaniel

A date has been set for the first hearing to seek the death penalty against murder suspect Stephen McDaniel.  The first proceeding hearing will take place Wednesday, January 25, at 10am.  The purpose of the hearing is to officially lay out the charges and begin the process for Bibb County to seek the death penalty.

McDaniel is charged with killing Mercer University Law School graduate Lauren Giddings in June of 2011.  McDaniel has been in jail without bond since July 1 on unrelated burglary charges. He was indicted by a grand jury on November 15 on one count of murder and 30 counts of sexual exploitation of children.
