MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is making sure kids have a fun and safe place to celebrate Halloween this year.

The annual Halloween Haunted House Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 31, at the Outreach and Restorative Justice Center, located at 774 Hazel Street.

Families can enjoy a haunted house, inflatables, a gaming truck, free food, shaved ice and candy bags for more than 2,000 children.

At 7:30 p.m., the event will feature a costume contest for participants of all ages.

Sgt. Sahkera Wooten with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the event gives families a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.

“We want to provide a safe environment for the kids to come and have everything that they need so that they don’t have to go door to door and hunt for candy,” Wooten said. “We have candy bags provided for over 2,000 kids. We’ll have free food, free shaved ice, free games.”

The free festival runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
