(CNN)- Guillermo del Toro’s latest film, Frankenstein, is set to receive the Gotham Vanguard Tribute at the 35th Annual Gotham Film Awards in New York on December 1.

The Gotham Film and Media Institute praised the film as a “bold re-imagining of a timeless tale.” The tribute will recognize del Toro, along with the cast and creative team, for their work on the highly anticipated adaptation.

Meanwhile, a new documentary is drawing attention for its unusual premise. The Man Who Saves the World? — with a question mark — follows Patrick McCollum, a spiritual leader and peace advocate who was a close friend of the late Jane Goodall. The film chronicles McCollum’s global journey as he seeks to fulfill an ancient prophecy said to unite the indigenous people of the Amazon.

The Man Who Saves the World? opens in select theaters Friday, October 17. More information, including showtimes and locations, can be found at the-man-who-saves-the-world.com.
