More Cold Weather Expected For Middle Georgia

It’s expected to be another cold night in the area, but there are plenty of ways you can stay warm and keep your energy bill low.

According to Georgia power if you want to save on your energy bill there are some things you can do during the winter months. First have your heating or cooling system professionally checked to make sure it’s running properly.

If you are going away for several days, lower the thermostat to 60 degrees but don’t turn it off. There will be less strain on your heating system when you get back. On sunny days open your blinds, to allow natural solar heat to warm your home. If you have to be outside dress in layers. Men’s director at the Macon Rescue Mission Randy Jackson says during this time of the year the homeless are looking for a hot meal and a place to stay.

“We encourage anybody to come in, if it’s cold weather outside. We ask that you try to get here by 5pm that way you will get a hot meal, even with the time frame we are going to feed you regardless”, said Jackson.

If you would like to help the Macon Rescue Mission with supplies for the homeless, you can give them a call at 478-743-54-45
