FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Some pizza deliveries in Forsyth next week will also include a fire safety inspection.
Monroe County Emergency Services is partnering with Domino’s and the National Fire Protection Association to raise awareness during Fire Prevention Week, October 5–11.
On Monday, October 6, between 5 and 9 p.m., random Domino’s deliveries from the store at 140 N. Lee St. may arrive with a fire engine and firefighters. Crews will check the home’s smoke alarms. If alarms are working, the pizza is free. If not, firefighters will install new batteries or replace the alarms.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is Charge Into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home. Domino’s will also distribute flyers with fire safety tips on pizza boxes, including guidance on how to safely buy, charge and recycle lithium-ion batteries.
“Fire continues to present real risks to the public, particularly at home, where the majority of U.S. home fire deaths happen,” said Fire Chief Matt Jackson of Monroe County Emergency Services. “Having working smoke alarms in the home is critical to safety, giving people the time needed to escape safely. We hope to share some simple but effective tips through our partnership with Domino’s.”
To participate, customers must order through Forsyth Domino’s by calling 478-219-4200.
