Fire Alert for Several Middle Georgia Counties

The Georgia Forestry Commission is conducting a prescribed burn today, and it could bring a lot of smoke to several Middle Georgia communities, including Bibb, Jones, Twiggs, Johnson, Jones, Washington, and Wilkinson Counties.

The fire will take place at the Town Creek Reservoir in Jones County.  The goal of the burn is to reduce the amount of rubbish that can fuel forest fires and to improve the habitat for wildlife.

The burn should be complete by 6pm.
