Are Computer Viruses Damaging Your Computer

Computers are becoming more and more indispensable every day but viruses seem to be a constant headache. A computer virus can lead to major problems like tracking computer usage, shutting down your computer, and recording your personal information. Jason Hickey is a computer technician at Quality Computers Systems on Riverside drive. Hickey says he’s seen a lot of computers infected with malware.

“It’s like fake antivirus software tries to trick you into buying it and putting your credit card number and we have seen a lot of that coming up lately through ads” said Hickey.

Hicky says there are some things you can do to protect yourself like, keeping your system up to date with the latest service packs and security up dates from Microsoft and make sure you have a good antivirus program”.  If you have anti-virus software you should do a full system scan at least twice a month.
