Unseasonably cool temperatures for Middle Georgia this week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Overall, the pleasant weather for this time of the year continues across the state through mid-week. The dry, cool, and breezy conditions can be attributed to the combination of deep level troughing and surface high pressure across much of the eastern U.S. Northwest winds have led to low dewpoints, which make it difficult for any rain chances to materialize. The exception could be across east-central Georgia where some moisture is lingering, but chances are under 10%. A reinforcing shortwave dropping along the backside of the trough later today could bring some mid-level clouds into western portions of the area, but its main impact will be bringing in a slightly cooler airmass on the backside of it. High temperatures will reach the low to mid 80s across Middle Georgia. With the low dewpoints and mostly clear skies, temperatures tonight will fall into the upper 50s to low 60s across much of the area. We could see a few record temperatures be tied or broken. In the higher terrain in far northeast Georgia, lows could even fall into the upper 40s!
