Zelensky visits London ahead of Trump-Putin summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited London today

(NBC)- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited London today, greeted at Downing Street by the British Prime Minister, as anticipation builds for tomorrow’s high-stakes summit between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
European leaders have voiced deep concerns over what President Trump might agree to during the meeting, working to influence the agenda ahead of time. Yesterday, they joined a joint call with President Trump and Zelenskyy, during which they stressed that no agreement on Ukraine should be made without Ukraine’s direct involvement.
Zelenskyy will not be present at the summit, despite his country’s future being at the center of discussions. He has urged that any broader peace talks be preceded by a cease-fire agreed to by Putin, a step it remains unclear if President Trump supports.
The U.S. president called the meeting with European leaders “a good call” and suggested the Alaska summit could be the first in a series of talks that would eventually include both Zelenskyy and Putin in the same room. He also signaled that sanctions could be imposed on Russia if he determines Putin is not serious about pursuing peace.
