UPDATE: Pedestrian killed in collision with 18-wheeler identfied

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly incident involving a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 late Sunday night.

(UPDATE): In a news release Monday afternoon from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the pedestrian killed on I-75 North on Sunday, has been identified as 39-year-old Thomas Lucree.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT-DT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly incident involving a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 late Sunday night.

Deputies responded to a call around 11:53 p.m. reporting a man walking in the lanes of traffic on I-75 North, just before the Bass Road on-ramp. Upon arrival, authorities were informed that the pedestrian may have been struck by an 18-wheeler.

The driver of the 18-wheeler told deputies that a man had walked into the lane of travel and may have been hit. After searching the area, deputies found the man in a nearby ditch.

Emergency medical services were called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The accident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
