Man arrested in knife assault at Dempsey Apartments in Macon
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported to the Macon-Bibb Emergency-911 Center on July 28 at around 12:27 p.m.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man is facing charges after deputies responded to an aggravated assault call involving a knife-wielding suspect Monday afternoon.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported to the Macon-Bibb Emergency-911 Center on July 28 around 12:27 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to the Dempsey Apartments at 523 Cherry St. following reports of a man armed with a knife chasing people in the area.
When deputies arrived, they found that the suspect had already been detained by a chief state court investigator. Witnesses told deputies that the man had been causing a disturbance and arguing with multiple people. During one of the confrontations, he reportedly pulled a knife and struck a male bystander. He then chased the person he had been arguing with onto Cherry Street, where he was apprehended.
The bystander who was injured was treated on the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was identified as 58-year-old Anthony Bernard Perkins of Macon. He was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
Perkins is charged with battery and aggravated assault. He is currently being held without bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
