Warner Robins teen dies after shooting; two arrested on murder charges

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — An 18-year-old died Wednesday evening after being shot on South Houston Lake Road in Warner Robins. Two suspects have been arrested and charged with felony murder.

Warner Robins Police responded to the shooting at 154 S. Houston Lake Road around 7:46 p.m. on July 2. When officers arrived, they found Qwamaine Lewis, 18, with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police later confirmed that Lewis died during emergency surgery from injuries sustained in the shooting. The department’s Criminal Investigative Division responded to lead the case.

Suspects located after BOLO issued

Following the shooting, investigators issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a white BMW believed to be connected to the case. The vehicle was later reported smoking on the side of the road in Americus, Georgia, prompting a 911 call.

Police located the vehicle and detained the occupants, later identifying them as Kel’zavious Felder, 19, and Jaylen McSwain, 18.

Both suspects face felony murder charges

After interviews, police arrested both suspects.

  • Felder is charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery (vehicle), possession of a stolen firearm, and felony murder.

  • McSwain is charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and felony murder.
