(CNN)- Two major films are generating buzz this week, as fans get their first look at a beloved period drama’s final chapter—and a high-stakes sci-fi adventure. The official trailer for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is out, teasing a new era for the Crawley family and their loyal staff. Set in 1930, the film promises change, charm, and a proper send-off for one of Britain’s most beloved fictional households. It’s being billed as the final installment in the long-running saga. The film opens in theaters on September 12th.
Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling stars in Project Hail Mary, playing Ryland Grace—a middle school science teacher with a doctorate in molecular biology—who wakes up from a coma light-years from home, and learns he’s Earth’s last hope for survival. The sci-fi thriller is directed by Spider-Verse creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel. Weir also wrote The Martian, which became a hit film starring Matt Damon. Project Hail Mary launches into theaters March 20, 2026.
