Man charged after 58 animals found in hoarding conditions in Monroe County
According to a news release, the sheriff’s office had received multiple complaints about possible animal cruelty and hoarding in the Hester Road area.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested after fleeing from deputies during a search warrant related to an animal cruelty investigation in Monroe County on Friday afternoon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest happened around 3 p.m. on June 27. According to a news release, the sheriff’s office had received multiple complaints about possible animal cruelty and hoarding in the Hester Road area.
A search warrant was obtained, and deputies attempted to speak with 64-year-old Darrell Jones. Jones fled the area but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
Deputies rescued 36 cats, 14 dogs and eight puppies, all found living in “deplorable conditions”, according to the news release.
Jones was charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
