JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Drivers traveling on Interstate 16 should prepare for overnight lane closures as the Georgia Department of Transportation begins a long-term pavement repair project.
Starting July 7, crews will begin concrete pavement repairs along I-16 East in both Twiggs and Bibb counties. According to the department, work will take place overnight—from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.—to minimize daytime traffic disruptions.
The project is expected to continue through spring 2026. Transportation officials encourage drivers to plan accordingly and use caution in the work zone.
