Bloomfield Library hosts Drone Racing
“I love seeing the kids' faces when they get exposed to technology and they get to try stuff that they don't normally get to try," said Kevin Bryant, Branch Manager for Middle Georgia Regional Library.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It was an interesting Thursday at Bloomfield-Gilead Recreation Center as drones were raced across the floor and in the air.
Dozens of kids attended as Bloomfield Library hosted the drone racing session to encourage tech literacy as a part of Middle Georgia Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program.
Kids had two minutes each, enjoying, laughing, sometimes screaming at each other’s piloting skills as they tried to race them across the gym floor, shooting them into the air, hovering, and flipping them.
The drones were BETAFPV Cetus Pros loaned by Georgia Public Library Service.
“You can see they actually have a camera in the front of them. So you can put on headphones and see through it,” said Kevin Bryant, Branch Manager for Middle Georgia Regional Library. “They have little spinning fans right here and the battery just goes into the back and once you connect them to a fully charged controller, you can just fly them around and they can actually go pretty fast.”
“I had a great time. I really enjoy doing these types of programs,” said Bryant. “I love seeing the kids’ faces when they get exposed to technology and they get to try stuff that they don’t normally get to try. It’s one of the many things we provide as part of the library and also with like our partners at Bloomfield, Parks and Rec. We really have a blast with these kids every summer.”
Bloomfield Library is located on 1931 Rocky Creek Road along with the Recreation Center. Their next event will be Float to the Finish, on July 3rd at 2:00 p.m., where they will enjoy a round of ice cream to celebrate the halfway mark of the summer reading program.
