PeaceFull Parenting offers breastfeeding tips to new moms
“It's worth it! I would say don't give up, just keep pushing through”.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Becoming a mother can be hard. Most expecting mothers don’t know how or where to start, especially when it comes to breastfeeding.
That’s why we stopped by PeaceFull Parenting to learn more on how mothers can prepare.
“I do have a twelve-year-old son that I did breastfeed exclusively for eighteen months. So, when I had her, I told myself I was going to try beat that goal, and see if I can last a little longer, and I just felt that connection I had with my son was irreplaceable”, said Ashley Houseman who is a local breastfeeding mother.
Houseman says her experience was pretty smooth, but that wasn’t the case for another local breastfeeding mother, Jennifer Barnes.
“It hasn’t been an easy journey; he had difficulty from the beginning,” said Barnes. “I had him early so latching was difficult for him”.
She says even though breastfeeding has had its difficulties, it has all been worth it.
“First, he wouldn’t latch, so I went to pumping and went back to trying to get him to latch. So, it has definitely been a journey, but it’s worth every minute of it”, said Barnes.
Some moms have different opinions when it comes to breastfeeding or giving your baby formula. Houseman says she feels breastfeeding is a healthier choice.
“They both been healthy, they’ve grown well, they have hit all their milestones. I can’t say that’s 100% because I breastfeed, but I do feel that I can give myself a pat on the back and say, that did help”, said Houseman.
Whether you choose breastfeeding or formula, both mothers share this piece of advice.
“Give yourself some grace and be patient, lean on the support systems like your family. And a feed baby is a happy baby so, whatever your journey looks like it great”, said Houseman.
“It’s worth it! I would say don’t give up, just keep pushing through”, said Barnes.
Owner of PeaceFull Parenting, Sabrina Hobbs, explains how women can get started with the breastfeeding process.
“So, if you’re on the fence, should I breastfeed. I may have had a breast reduction, or something happened where people told me this wouldn’t work for me. Come see us here, come see a lactation consultant, and let’s journey through it,” said Hobbs. “Let’s talk about the benefits, and the pros and cons with that. We’ll do an examination to help get ready for this journey”.
Hobbs says they will be offering free breastfeeding classes on June 21 and 29, at 158 South Houston Road Suite 5 in Warner Robins.
