Three people arrested in Treutlen County kidnapping, assault investigation

TREUTLEN COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Three people have been arrested in connection with a kidnapping and aggravated assault investigation in Treutlen County, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

30-year-old Dean Tanner of Tarrytown, 43-year-old Lauren Bailey of Vidalia, and 51-year-old Jeff Sconyers of Vidalia were arrested and charged by the GBI.

On May 28, the Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI’s assistance with an investigation involving a reported kidnapping and assault in Soperton.

According to a news release, the victim told investigators that Tanner, Bailey and Sconyers physically assaulted him at a home on Tarrytown Road in Soperton. The suspects then kidnapped the victim and drove him to a home on Pine Street in Vidalia, where he was assaulted again until he lost consciousness.

While at the Vidalia home, the suspects reportedly searched for items they believed the victim had stolen from a warehouse owned by Bailey. The news release states the suspects then drove the victim to a wooded area in Ailey, where they sexually assaulted him.

Tanner, Bailey and Sconyers were each charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping for the incident in Soperton. Additional charges are expected in connection with the crimes committed in Vidalia and Ailey.

All three were arrested on May 29 and booked into the Treutlen County Jail.
