Man arrested in Monroe County after meth, firearm found during stolen property investigation

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested Monday after deputies found methamphetamine and a firearm during a stolen property investigation, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened around 10 a.m. June 2 at 195 Gibson Road.

According to a news release, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Uniform Patrol Divisions were assisting the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in recovering stolen property when the arrest was made.

During the search, investigators found methamphetamine and items belonging to other individuals. Some of the property was confirmed to have been stolen from a storage unit in Macon.

The sheriff’s office said investigators are working to identify the owners of additional stolen items believed to be taken from locations across Middle Georgia.

40-year-old James Moore was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held without bond at the Monroe County Jail. Additional charges are pending.
