MTA giving back to community with free rides on Friday
MTA's "Free Fare Day" is Friday, May 30 from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority is offering free rides and hosting a community event this Friday.
MTA’s annual “Free Fare Day” is set for Friday, May 30 from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Free rides will be available on all fixed-route buses and paratransit services.
MTA Public Information Officer Jami Gaudet says MTA has offered the campaign every year for the past four years. She says the free rides are a way to give back to the community as good corporate citizens and also help introduce new riders to public transportation.
In addition to free rides, MTA is holding a Community Services Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Terminal Station. The event connects MTA riders and the public with local organizations and resources. Participating groups include Bike Walk Macon, Crisis Line & Safe House, Family Advancement Ministries, Macon Volunteer Clinic, the Pedestrian Safety Review Board, the Middle Georgia Regional Library’s WoW (Without Walls) program and Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
There will also be a “Macon Celebrity Story Hour” for kids from 11 a.m. to noon, featuring stories, songs and entertainment at the Terminal Station.
