Unsettled weather to start the new week

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A line of showers and storms has moved through the area this morning. There is a potential for this line to lose its energy as it pushes eastward into the area however, damaging winds are a possibility. Expect dense cloud cover across north and Middle Georgia as somewhat of a weak wedge is in place across northeast Georgia. This will delay convective formation. Continue to expect isolated to scattered showers and storms this afternoon and evening. A few storms could be strong, posing a risk for damaging wind gusts, small hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our viewing area under a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather. Mostly cloudy and dreary conditions are likely to be the rule for most of the week. North Georgia will be influenced by a cold air damming wedge which will bring cooler easterly flow winds.
