A 9-year-old girl struck by an SUV while riding her bike in Byron has died, according to the Peach County Coroner. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE: The 9-year-old girl who was struck by an SUV while riding her bicycle in Byron on Wednesday has died at the hospital.
Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks says the girl was pronounced dead just after 7:30 Thursday night.

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A 9-year-old girl was critically injured Wednesday evening after being struck by an SUV while riding her bicycle in Byron, authorities said.
Byron Police officers responded to the scene on Murdock Lane at 5:17 p.m. The child, a Byron resident, was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Macon in critical condition, according to the department.
The SUV involved in the crash was driven by a 44-year-old man from Americus.
Police say the incident remains under active investigation.
