Hollywood Minute: Stephen King’s The Long Walk heads to theaters

A long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s earliest novel is finally hitting the big screen.

(CNN)- A long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s earliest novel is finally hitting the big screen. The Long Walk, the first book King ever wrote—though it remained unpublished for years—has been brought to life by Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence. The dystopian thriller stars Cooper Hoffman and Mark Hamill and is set to debut in theaters on September 12.

Set in a grim future, The Long Walk centers on a brutal competition: participants must keep walking—without rest or deviation—until only one person remains. The film’s tension-filled trailer teases haunting moments with warnings, cries of pain, and a chilling final gunshot.

In other film news, two beloved stars from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off may soon reunite on screen. According to Deadline, Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck are in talks to team up again for a new comedy titled The Best Is Yet to Come. The film follows a group of friends on a mission to rescue one of their sons while crossing items off their bucket lists.

If confirmed, it would mark the first time the longtime friends and former co-stars have shared the screen since their iconic 1986 teen comedy, where they famously took a Ferrari for a joyride that ended in cinematic disaster.
