Amerson Water Treatment Plant earns seventh consecutive Platinum Award
The Amerson Water Treatment Plant in Macon has earned its seventh consecutive GAWP Platinum Award for water quality compliance and operational excellence.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Frank C. Amerson Jr. Water Treatment Plant has been honored with the Platinum Award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for the seventh year in a row.
According to a news release from MWA, the Platinum Award is presented to water treatment facilities that maintain 100% compliance with all state and federal drinking water regulations for at least five consecutive years. The Amerson Plant, operated by the Macon Water Authority (MWA), continues to rank among the top-performing facilities in the state.
“This award speaks volumes about the hard work and dedication of our Water Treatment Plant staff,” said Ron Shipman, MWA president and executive director. “We are committed to delivering safe, clean drinking water every day, and our team at Amerson delivers that promise with excellence year after year.”
The 2025 award was formally presented during the GAWP Spring Conference & Expo held this year in Columbus, Georgia.
Located along the Ocmulgee River, the Amerson Plant serves as a primary source of drinking water for thousands of residents and businesses across Middle Georgia.
