Florida man arrested in Macon after $3K theft attempt at Dick’s Sporting Goods
Deputies took the suspect into custody after a brief foot chase, during which he was tased after leaving the store with nearly $3,000 in merchandise, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Florida man was arrested Monday after allegedly attempting to steal thousands of dollars in merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Shoppes at River Crossing, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on April 28. Deputies took the suspect into custody after a brief foot chase, during which he was tased after leaving the store with nearly $3,000 in merchandise, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The suspect was identified as Lonnie Alexander.
Alexander was also wanted on outstanding warrants in Macon-Bibb County for commercial armed robbery and theft by shoplifting. He now faces multiple charges, including armed robbery, felony theft by shoplifting, misdemeanor theft by shoplifting, conspiracy to commit a felony, criminal trespass and two counts of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
