Dublin Irish Baseball Team Celebrates Senior Night As Well As Revealing A New Groundbreaking Project

DUBLIN, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – As the regular season winds down and playoff baseball looms, Dublin High School made sure its senior players went out in style. On a memorable Senior Night, the Fighting Irish honored their four seniors—not just on the field, but at a groundbreaking ceremony for a brand-new indoor baseball facility.

The ceremony, held just beyond the third-base line where the new facility will be built, was attended by the seniors Tyrese Robinson, Willie Batts, Wesley Maddox, and Mikey Patisaul, as well as Athletic Director Roger Holmes, head baseball coach Brian Brown, and several community supporters. The new facility, made possible through not only the school district, but generous donations, will be a major upgrade for the Dublin athletics program.

The 6,000-square-foot building will feature indoor batting cages, pitching mounds, a dedicated locker room for the baseball team, and office space for the coaching staff. It will also include additional restroom facilities and shared access for the softball and tennis programs.

“This has been years in the making,” Holmes said. “We couldn’t be more excited. Indoor practice facilities are a must now—a place for kids to work, train, and continue to get better, especially when it rains and storms outside.”

Holmes noted the revitalization of the baseball program, crediting the coaching staff for instilling renewed confidence and focus in the team. He emphasized how the new facility will help maintain that momentum.

“Dublin baseball has a strong history,” he said. “This facility is just another way we’re investing in our athletes—both male and female—and helping them reach their full potential.”

Construction is set to begin immediately, with the goal of having the facility ready to support year-round development for the next generation of Irish athletes.

This Fighting Irish squad finished the night with a program milestone. After defeating Region AA D-1 rival Dodge County 10-6 in their season finale, Dublin baseball picked up their 20th win of the season; a feat that had not been obtained by the team since 2009.
