Volunteers serve 1,500 meals on Good Friday at Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia
Loaves and Fishes Ministry, senior citizens and homeless people in and around Macon were just a few served on Good Friday.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – With smiles on their faces, volunteers at the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia quickly made about 1,500 hot meals on Friday to serve those dealing with hardship, homelessness and hunger in Middle Georgia.
Michael Howell, one of those volunteers and a resident at the mission, says this is his second time helping.
“I used to be homeless myself, so I take pride helping people, feeding them who need it,” he said.
Amy Walker , the development director at the mission, say they packed to-go containers with hot slices of baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, a roll and a dessert.
“This is an amazing opportunity for us to show love and to let every man, woman and child know that we love them, we see them, we think that they are God’s special creation and let them know that we care about them as individuals,” she said.
Those in need were thankful for a hot meal, while others, like Michael Howell, were grateful for the opportunity to serve.
