Warner Robins leaders celebrate new BJ’s Wholesale Club location with groundbreaking ceremony

The wholesale club store will be located at 6201 Watson Blvd. and is expected to open in the fall.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – City officials in Warner Robins celebrated the upcoming arrival of Middle Georgia’s first BJ’s Wholesale Club during a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.

“Warner Robins and Middle Georgia, we’re ready for a wholesale store in our area without having to go to the Atlanta area,” said LaRhonda Patrick, Mayor of Warner Robins. 

In the fall, Middle Georgians will have a new one-stop shop for items like groceries, home appliances, furniture, garden and outdoor materials, computers and tablets, tire services and more. Patrick says she expects major foot traffic when doors open.

“A lot of times when we get new developments here, we break records for the national chain,” Patrick said. “The amount of sales, how fast things are getting leased out, and I’m going to add this to the list because I just really feel like we’re going to do it here too.” 

The store is expected to provide between 120 to 150 new jobs. Kate Hogan, Director of Community and Economic Development for Warner Robins, says the store’s proximity to I-75 is well-suited for local retail trade, and that neighboring businesses should expect to benefit.

“Being a wholesale club, we are excited to see how it’s going to support our local small businesses as well,” Hogan said. 

In the midst of inflation, Patrick says having a place where families can get up to a 25% off discount on groceries is a game changer. Briana Bryant, Senior Manager for External Communications for BJ’S Wholesale Club, says club members won’t be the only ones gaining more access to fresh produce.

“We’re actually going to be donating food on a weekly basis to Middle Georgia Community Food Bank to those families in need in the community,” Bryant said. 

Patrick says companies doing market research and landing on Warner Robins is a testament to the work the city is doing to attract major businesses. She says that work will continue and is most satisfied knowing that the community will be better served.

“The impact is going to be immeasurable,” Patrick said. “Knowing that we have it right here in our backyard is what makes me so excited.”
