Garbage Fees May Increase for Bibb County Residents

To help cover rising contractor costs, the Bibb County Board of Commissioners have proposed increasing garbage collection fees by $3 a month.

The current rate for county residents is $9.75, but if the proposal passes residents will have to pay $12.75 a month starting January 1st.

Commissioner Elmo Richardson tells 41 NBC collection fees have not increased in the county in 10 years.

The rate will still be cheaper than city residents pay.  Those in the Macon city limits pay $45 quarterly. In Houston County, residents pay $11 a month, and Warner Robins residents pay $16.50 a month for their garbage collection service.
