MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Parents took to the streets Friday morning protesting outside the Bibb County Board of Education.

They are seeking answers regarding the recent decision not to renew the contracts of Principal Angel Woodard and Assistant Principal Dr. Meredith Byrd at Alexander II Magnet School.

During the protest, parents expressed their frustration, saying they want answers from the board behind the vote and that they want them to reconsider their vote.

“We haven’t gotten any answers from the board,” parent Sean Bewick said. “It’s clear that the administration doesn’t want to leave. The superintendent didn’t want the administration to leave. The teachers don’t want the administration to leave. And the parents and the students love them too. So, who is making this decision, and why?”

At a board meeting last month, members voted 6-2 against renewing the contracts, which left many parents to be blindsided and frustrated. 41NBC reached out to the Board of Education but did not receive a response. The Bibb County School District has stated previously it cannot discuss personnel matters.

Parents are encouraging others to join them at the upcoming board meeting scheduled for March 20, where they plan to voice their concerns to the board.
