64-Year-Old Grazed By Bullet At Skating Rink

A 64 year-old Macon woman was grazed and wounded in her stomach by a stray bullet that broke through her windshield on Saturday.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, after Carol Morris picked up her grandchildren from the Olympia Skating Rink on Mercer University Drive, one of her grandkids noticed she was bleeding near her stomach.

Sgt. Sean Defoe says, just before 12:30 am, people were leaving the rink after a concert when a group of men began firing shots in the air and then left the scene.

Investigators say one of the bullets came down and skimmed Morris’s abdomen. Morris was taken to the hospital, treated for her wound,and is in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.
