Man arrested for terroristic threats at Amerson River Park in Macon on Monday morning

Deputies responded to North Pierce Avenue around 10 a.m. March 3 regarding a suspicious man.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man was arrested on charges of terroristic threats at Amerson River Park Monday morning, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to North Pierce Avenue around 10 a.m. March 3 regarding a suspicious man. The report stated that the man was on the trail making inappropriate comments to women as they walked by.

When deputies tried to make contact with the man, he brandished a gun and fled to his vehicle. He attempted to drive away, but a deputy performed a PIT maneuver, stopping the vehicle at the entrance to Amerson River Park.

The man was identified as 31-year-old Eugene Andre Carswell Jr.

Carswell was taken into custody, and the firearm was recovered. He was transported to the Bibb County Jail and charged with terroristic threats, obstruction of law enforcement, fleeing and attempting to elude, and disorderly conduct.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that no one was injured and no property was damaged.
