CNN- Filmmaker Jake Rademacher revisits the troops from Brothers at War in his new documentary, Brothers After War, highlighting veterans’ emotional and psychological challenges after service.

“I was angry at everybody. They didn’t understand,” one veteran shares. Another admits, “I was this close to taking my own life.” The film captures the spectrum of experiences—those lost in battle, those struggling at home, and those moving forward.

Veterans advocate Gary Sinise supports the project, helping refine the film’s message. “We want the same healing aspects of the first movie to apply to the second,” he says. The documentary also emphasizes the sacrifices of military families. “The amount of sacrifice I have asked my wife to make is gut-wrenching,” one soldier reflects.
Rademacher’s goal is clear: “We want veterans to know they’re not alone.” One soldier concludes, “Coming home has always been the hardest part of being a warrior, but if we walk beside them, they can make it all the way home.”
